The Colours of Indonesia: When Top Designers Get Together….

Chic eco-friendly living room by interior designer Eko Priharseno. Clean, green, modern. Typical Eko’s design. Love it!

Independence Day is just one day to go – and this is how 12 top Indonesian interior designers at ID12 show their pride and love for the country: by creating 12 interior design inspirations. And they all do it in impeccable, tasteful style. Who would have thought –or rather: aren’t you glad to know that– all their works are inspired by the colours of Indonesia, hence the name of the event. Opened last night and attended by media and design enthusiasts, the event will be held until Aug 24 at Senayan City, Jakarta. For those who doesn’t know that local talents can actually rock and rule, here are the names to watch: Agam Riadi, Ary Juwono, Roland Adam, Eko Priharseno, Hendramianto Syamsulhadi, Reza Wahyudi, Anita Boentarman, Fifi Fimandjaja, Prasetio Budhi, Yuni Jie, Shirley Gouw. Bravo ID12 for the initiative and awesome works!

Casual dining room according to Fifi Damandjaja is when nature meets glam. Or is it because of that pretty dress by Sebastian Gunawan? Either way they are beautiful.

Dark, handsome yet playful. A deer head welcomes at the play room by Reza Wahyudi. Jakarta Vintage approves.

Art, Craft, Design and …Vintage at Jakarta DoArt

I dont know about you, but I think the creative energy is blowing quite strongly lately….In the past few weeks Jakarta’s hipsters, young at heart, art lovers and design junkies have witnessed some happening events in the city such as  the uber cool Bright Spot, the stylish Pasar Disain 2014, and the artful Jakarta Biennale and SEA Triennale 2013. And there are more to come, I believe. Jakarta DoArt is one. This event is a mix of art, craft and design market and exhibition, taking place at the Street Gallery of Pondok Indah Mall on Nov 28 – Dec 1, 2013. Initiated and organized by a movement called Doinc/ Do Art (www.doinc.org and www.DoArtProject.com) Jakarta DoArt believes that art is for everyone and therefor it has to be attainable by everyone, which perhaps in the form of tote bag, pillow, tumbler, and other interior items. Jakarta Vintage — along with other brands such as 2Madison, ArtMediumStore and others–  supports this event 100% by participating in the event, in the market side. As for the exhibition, Darbotz, Indieguerillas, Dhayank Pambayun, and other artists will display their iconic works in a way that Pondok Indah Mall regulars have never seen. Do come.

See you this weekend:)

10 Designs That I Love at Bazaar Art/Casa 2013

The Indonesian version of Milan Design Week  — that is Bazaar Art/ Casa 2013—was back last week. This time around I was really intrigued by the works of young designers who made it to the final of The Design Challenge 2013.  I think their works are awesome. Just look at the works here. They are exactly what this event wanted to achieve: unity of art and design. One chair is inspired by Rumah Gadang, another chair is very Mickey Mouse. Or that two seater in yellow fabric by Mariska Adriana and that slim side table by Zanun, they are all fresh and unique. I love them all. What do you think?

Extra Ordinary Designs At Desain.ID 2012

The most anticipated event on interior design in Indonesia –Desain.ID 2012– has just kicked off at Jakarta Convention Center last Wednesday. This year it focuses on “design in extra ordinary means”…Well, for me it means I have to find extra ordinary and iconic designs to be highlighted here, not hard at all as there are so many interesting works there. Here is my personal choice. Have a restful weekend!
