Behind The Scenes: Vintage At Jakarta Do Art 2014

This is another behind the scenes video shot and edited by Ozi, this time it’s on Jakarta Do Art, an event held at Pondok Indah Mall early this month. I uploaded the video here now — otherwise it becomes “sooo last year”. The video highlights cool arts by talented do-art artists,  products by partners, and a workshop on “decorating with vintage” by Jakarta Vintage, which is supported by Martha Stewart Living Indonesia. So if you missed the event, you can always watch this video anytime. It’s in youtube. Happy watching, and oh Happy New Year!

Xmas Decoration A la Jakarta Vintage

This is how Xmas and new year decoration looks like according to Jakarta Vintage and team, dedicated for Dulux Lets Colour. Primary colors: red, white and green. Main element: deer. Flowers: white lilies and roses. And lots of little ceramic dolls — all vintage. What does your Xmas decor look like? Share it with me here. Thanks!

Behind The Scenes: Xmas Decoration for Dulux Let’s Colour

Jakarta Vintage was back in the most inspiring interior design TV program: Dulux Let’s Color, aired last Sunday at 9am on Metro TV.  This time it’s about …Xmas decoration –on the table, on the wall, and well, overall. It may look simple and easy when you see it– but the preparations are quite intensive, thanks to Jakarta Vintage team: Eleni, Maya, Sigit, and Zai. As you can see in this video –shot and edited by our in-house photographer Ozi– our take on Xmas decoration is…. plenty of deer, no Xmas tree, and …vintage all the way. Ho-ho-ho. Happy watching and wait for the photos and the video in my next postings. Merry Xmas holidays:)

Behind The Scenes: Color Trends 2014

This is a very late post, I know…but I thought you would want to know how three interior arrangements and decorations are planned, prepared and presented. Yes, this is the Color Trends 2014 behind the scenes video. Enjoy!

Art, Craft, Design and …Vintage at Jakarta DoArt

I dont know about you, but I think the creative energy is blowing quite strongly lately….In the past few weeks Jakarta’s hipsters, young at heart, art lovers and design junkies have witnessed some happening events in the city such as  the uber cool Bright Spot, the stylish Pasar Disain 2014, and the artful Jakarta Biennale and SEA Triennale 2013. And there are more to come, I believe. Jakarta DoArt is one. This event is a mix of art, craft and design market and exhibition, taking place at the Street Gallery of Pondok Indah Mall on Nov 28 – Dec 1, 2013. Initiated and organized by a movement called Doinc/ Do Art (www.doinc.org and www.DoArtProject.com) Jakarta DoArt believes that art is for everyone and therefor it has to be attainable by everyone, which perhaps in the form of tote bag, pillow, tumbler, and other interior items. Jakarta Vintage — along with other brands such as 2Madison, ArtMediumStore and others–  supports this event 100% by participating in the event, in the market side. As for the exhibition, Darbotz, Indieguerillas, Dhayank Pambayun, and other artists will display their iconic works in a way that Pondok Indah Mall regulars have never seen. Do come.

Color Trends 2014 From Vintage Perspective

What color is in (and what’s out) in 2014? The answer to this question for a global leader in paint and coating such as Jotun is 24. Yes, Jotun provides 24 colors of paints in its Color Trends 2014 campaign, which are grouped into three themes: Travel in Style, Urban Casual, and New Comforting. Urban in Style projects elegance, warmth, and glamor, best represented by dark blue, green, maroon and purple. As for Urban Casual, it’s all about being creative, laid back and individual with orange, retro blue and grey in the color palette. New Comforting is best for those who want to have a relaxing, peaceful and simple space. This color scheme includes dew blue, tudor, edelwise, among others. For the launch event of Color Trends 2014 the Norway brand commissioned Jakarta Vintage to make an interpretation of the three themes above by designing and decorating three spaces in its launch event today. Here are the photos, styled and shot by our creative team, at our showroom/ studio at the Darmawangsa Square. How do you like it?

Ping Pong & Vintage At Pong Me Cafe

When was the last time you play ping pong? Exactly. Don’t worry, you are not alone. Perhaps that’s the reason why this cafe was open — ping pong is everybody’s favorite sport yet nobody plays it anymore. Pong Me cafe may look like any other cafe from the outside — no, may I correct it: with that ping pong neon signage in front it’s very obvious  — and when you get inside, it’s even more obvious that ping pong takes the center stage.  Though it actually has more to offer. The interior design that is so fun, a bit glam, done by talented Mr Stanley Marcellius. The murals that are iconic, witty and playful by Sanchia Hamidjaja. The instagram wall that is unique and “path-able”. And the Scandinavian vintage chairs and sofa that are so…Jakarta Vintage. O yes, all the lounge chairs here are by Jakarta Vintage, including the dining chairs and two chesterfields in the VIP room. So now for those who want to mix coffee, pizza and sport together — all in style , this is the place to go. And whoever says cafe is only for drink, eat and chat, he’s never been to Pong Me – Ping Pong Lounge. Photos by & taken from Pong Me Facebook fan

Beautiful Vintage Chairs at Hotel Kosenda

Vintage hunting or spotting – I normally do it on the weekend. But that Thursday night I went to Hotel Kosenda, a new boutique hotel in Jakarta to unwind, and boy how I had a vintage-tic time. This hotel is like a candy store to me. Every single thing there is vintage at its best. Just superb mid-century pieces. Especially the chairs and the sofas! They are so… I am speechless, practically kneeling down on the floor. According to the owner, Pak Ruben Kosenda, all the chairs and sofas are original, authentic pieces, obviously not the kind of chairs you would find in the flea markets or so-called antique shops. Just premium, first class chairs– and they look it! And the good news is: They are not there just for the show, they are there for the guests to actually sit on it. With awesome chairs like these, now you can go to the hotel not to sleep, you can just have a coffee, take a bite and sit. Happy Monday!

Finding Vintage and Flea Market in Montreal

Montreal — for those who want to be a little more educated, civilized and cultured, this is the place to be. As Canada’s cultural capital, the city has so much to offer in the art, culture and design departments. Including of course when it comes to vintage and flea market. So when I was there, I made sure I educated myself by going to see antiques and vintage a la Montrealaises. For antiques, Notre-Dame Street is the place to go. And for vintage and flea market, I went to St Michel. There are many other places for sure, but for a busy tourist like me– those two places did just fine. In St Michel I managed to secure some acquisitions…Oh shall I tell you that the prices here are not more expensive than Jalan Surabaya or Pasar Triwindu. Interesting, no? And like in any other flea market, you will meet the same friendly and happy faces, especially when you are being genuine. Here are some photos of St Michel flea market for your vintage-oriented eyes only. Happy Tuesday!

IdeaFest: Where Politics, Creativity, Comedy and…Vintage Meet

What happens when Basuki Ahok Purnama –the daring and outspoken Vice Governor of Jakarta–, Raditya Dika –Indonesia’s funniest man since Bing Slamet– and Anis Baswedan –the man behind the breakthrough Indonesia Mengajar– meet and share their wisdom? It’s called IdeaFest 2013. This creative business conference will take place on Sep 27-28 at Jakarta Convention Center and over 1,000 people are expected to attend 20 conferences and workshops which will also feature Rene Suhardono, Andy F Noya, Wishnutama and some other authoritative names in creativity. I am definitely so coming to this event –not only because I will be sharing my piece of mind in a workshop titled: “Fresh Antiquity: From Hobby To Business “– but also because I don’t want to miss a chance to meet with and get inspired by Indonesia’s most creative leaders. Where else will I find an event where comedy, politics, creativity, innovation, business and vintage meet ? For more details, click here http://www.fgdexpo.com/ideafest See you at IdeaFest 2013.
